UTI's kept at bay

I have had many UTI's over the course of my lifetime.  I would always go to the doctor, get an antibiotic and it would stay away for a few more months.  After I went through menopause, I was having them non-stop.  I went to a urologist who tried long term therapy, by giving me an antibiotic (keflex) to take 3-4 times a week, and vagifem which is estrogen to insert vaginally twice a week. Because of the lack of estrogen bacteria forms more readily, is my understanding because of the condition of the bladder area.   I did this for a year, and felt like the prospect of never getting of these meds. was dismal.  I tried taking VItamin C tablets at bedtime, that I had heard helped others, all it did was give me a headache.  I tried cranberry tablets which worked a short time, but not long term, and it upset my stomach after awhile.
Finally, after prayer, and watching Dr. Phil's wife, Robin McGraw talk about eating cottage cheese, blueberries and sunflower seeds mixed together daily as part of her diet, not necessarily for UTI's, I started eating that daily for lunch.  I also eat one small orange in the early evening.  After doing this daily for a couple of weeks, I noticed that I didn't have to take antibiotics or vagifem 2-4 times a week.  I totally quit the vagifem, and I do take an antibiotic if I feel that a UTI is coming on.  That has been only about once every week or two.
I have no idea why this works, but I'm so thankful that it does!!!!!!!!!!!!!
