Finding a way to express myself has been a challenge since quitting teaching. So, that is why this website. On
this site I'll describe myself and share my interests and ideas. It is also important to share my experience with
Meniere's disease. Hopefully I will be able to expand or improve the site as time goes on... Thanks for visiting!

My Hobbies
I did many things in the past that would be considered hobbies, but of a more serious nature: I was
a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha for several years and my pet project was as the chairman of a "Little
Miss and Mr." contest with proceeds going to St. Jude's Hospital. Many civic duties during that time included money
raising projects and monthly service duties like putting out American Flags on Main Street for each Patriotic Holiday.
The most rewarding project that ESA allowed me the honor of doing was to take an 8th grade girl from one of
my classes shopping for a graduation dress. (someone that I knew wouldn't be able to have one otherwise) This made
all of the work worthwhile, and gave me new insight into the organization's possibilities! I also taught sunday school
for many years, and served as chairman of the children's ministries for a year at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in
Houston. I was also a member of BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) for five years. (at the time five years was the longest
you could be a part of this interdenominational study), and then a member of Disciples Bible Study for two years through
the United Methodist Church. I was asked to teach for the Disciples Bible Study, but I never felt worthy, and remained
a student. A fun hobby that allowed me to make a little money was singing in a club as half of a duet
with a male friend who played the guitar. Four months out of the year I was an entrepreneur as owner of a shaved
ice stand. It became more than a hobby as it helped pay for my kids' tuition. It became a learning project
for all of us. Last year was the first year that I managed it by myself. Since the kids are older, and
not as interested, we are selling the stand. Michelle is working part time at a restaurant and going to school
full time at TCU. Britt plans on finding his own job this summer.
I like to sing, play guitar, write children's stories, draw, spend time with my kids, visit with friends, and find
old friends via the internet.
